Determination of Radius of Curvature

Problem: If e=0.10 and f=0.15, design speed =100 kmph, determine radius of curvature.

Solution:
We know that,
            e + f = V²/ (gR)

Given, e = 0.1
            f = 0.15
            V= 100 kmph
               = 27.78 m/s


∴ 0.1 + 0.15 = 27.78²/ (9.81 * R) 
 ⇒ R= 314.62 m
        ≃ 315 m

Answer: 315 m
