Problem: An artesian aquifier 10m thick with piezoelectric surface 40 m above the bottom confining layer is being pumped by a fully penetrating well. The aquifier is medium
sand (hydraulic conductivity 1.5 х 10-4 m/s). Steady state draw down of 5.00 m and 1.00 m are observed at two non-pumping wells located 20.0 m and 200.0m respectively from pumping well. Determine the discharge at the pumping well in m3/s.

Solution:
We know that,
Q = [2πKm (D2-D1)] / loge (r2/r1)
Here, m = 10 m
k = 1.5 x 10-4 m/s
D2 = 40-1 m
= 39 m
D1 = 40-5 m
= 35 m
r2 =20 m
r2 =200 m
∴ Q = [2π *1.5 * 10-4 * 10* (39-35)] / loge (200/20)
= 0.01637 m3/s
